A guide to Guitars
and Amplifiers

My background as a teacher was undoubdtly among the many reasons why I have put this website together. I had been looking for topics to evolve into websites and I noticed that I hadn't come across a site such as this, one that contained useful and concise information that could help inform people to know a little more about guitars than they might otherwise when they are starting out. Such Websites are probably out there as the world of websites is vast, but its no matter as here is the one I have produced now. The site is essentially targetted at the novice, though perhaps players with a more intermediate knowledge of guitars may also find something of interest in it.

I have been a keen guitar player now for over over 40 years, which as I write that comment is a little scary as it seems a very long time! I am an experienced performer on my local music circuit, periodically joining or forming new bands with a particular interest in blues, blues rock and contemporary jazz.

I've tried to assimilate information over the years about guitars so that I could arrive at an informed decision as to what is the best choice of guitar and equipment for me. Those decisions I've now been able to make, but they evolved over time and could have happened more expediently had I this site to refer to.

We all get to know a bit about guitars, even from the beginning of our interest. Advertisements, endorsements, our fellow players and our favourite professional players help us become acquainted with what is out there. We soon learn of a few leading guitar brands and models. If we take a look at guitar brand website and catalogues we can get to see some technical information and yet some of that detail is a little empty. For example, it may presume you are already aware of the differences between a single coil pickup and a humbucker pickup, or have experience of the significance in choice of wood that has been used.

Another thing I noticed was that guitar shops did not seem to provide very much information about the guitars and equipment in their store. It would be clear that electric guitars, for example, came in different colours, shapes and sizes, but little detailed information was being provided for the customer.

So being able to assimilate much of this information in one place, I thought would form a useful resource for the buyer.

With the purchaser in mind, I have selected some online associates able to supply instrument, related equipment and items of interest to the guitarist at very competitive prices.
